Police: Tennessee woman shot boyfriend in self-defense

Dandridge is facing two counts of aggravated assault.

(WMCACTIONNEWS5.COM) MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Investigators say a Memphis woman was acting in self defense, when she shot her boyfriend on Sunday.
Barry Dandridge is charged with aggravated assault.

According to affidavit, Dandridge attacked and choked his girlfriend at a house in the 1600 block of Delano Ave. after leaving a club on Beale St.

The police report says the woman was grabbed by her neck and slammed to the floor.

Officers say that’s when she was able to grab a gun that was hidden under the couch. She put the gun in her purse and when Dandridge attacked her again, she shot him.

Investigators say the girlfriend had visible bruising on her neck, chest and head.
