Police say man forced woman to sign ‘slave contract’
(KETV7.COM) LINCOLN, Neb. – A 35-year-old man admitted that he “may have taken things too far” when he subjected a woman to sexual assault and torture, even having her sign a document indicating she was his property, Lincoln police say.
Nicholas A. Talbot faces a charge of second-degree domestic assault in connection with the case.
An affidavit outlines the details of the agreement, which the 32-year-old woman said she was forced to sign. Officers noted the original signed document titled “Slave Contract” said the slave “only had rights the master gave her.”
According to the affidavit, the document said the slave could be subjected to “whipping, caning, burning, branding, bondage, spanking, choking, drinking urine and forced sex.”
The victim, who said she was in an intimate relationship with Talbot for about 10 years, said she’d been abused throughout the relationship but that the assaults had recently escalated.
She told officers she believed the contract was official and that she had to abide by its terms.
Markings covering the victim’s back were consistent with being whipped with a cord or belt, the affidavit said. The victim described other markings where Talbot had allegedly put out cigarettes on her back or used a lighter to burn her buttocks.
In the affidavit, officers also said the woman had the words “PROPERTY OF NICK” written on her left arm with a black marker.
The woman told police she believed Talbot would kill her friends and family if she didn’t comply with the signed agreement.
When police made contact with Talbot on Monday and provided the original copy of the slave agreement, the affidavit said, Talbot admitted he burned the victim with a lighter and a screwdriver, whipped her and urinated in her mouth.
Talbot was cited and taken to the Lancaster County Jail on a count of second-degree domestic assault.
Talbot is a registered sex offender, convicted in 1999 of two counts of sexual assault of a child. He was released from prison in 2003.
