Keefe, who was arrested Sunday afternoon, has been suspended by the Predators.

(WFTV 9) ORLANDO – The Orlando Predators head coach has been suspended from his job Monday following his arrest on domestic violence battery charges.

Deputies said Rob Keefe choked his girlfriend after an argument Sunday.

Orlando Predators officials announced the coach’s suspension late Monday afternoon while waiting for him to be released from jail.

On Monday, Keefe, with his girlfriend, Amie Hardin, by his side, faced a judge.

The Hardin told the judge it was OK for Keefe to return home.

Keefe was arrested Sunday afternoon after Hardin, his girlfriend of 3 years, told deputies he choked her. She told deputies that the two got into a fight and he grabbed her around the neck and pushed her against the door.

Keefe said he didn’t do it.

“I’m going to order his release under no hostile contact,” a judge said Monday.

In a statement from the Orlando Predators football team Sunday they said Hardin described it as an isolated incident.
“We have decided to suspend Coach Keefe with pay while the investigation is ongoing. This is not an indication of his guilt or innocence or that there is any validity to the charges. Coach Keefe is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” said  Orlando Predators president Jared Saft.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Hardin didn’t want Keefe to get in trouble.

Charges are now up to the State Attorney’s Office.

Keefe faces a misdemeanor charge but it could be upped to a felony.

Keefe is expected to be released from jail sometime Monday.
