Sami Sue was shot in the stomach with a BB gun.

(BTLS Staff) NORTH PORT, Fla. – Authorities in Sarasota County are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect who shot a dog Sunday in North Port.

Sami Sue, an eight-month old terrier mix, was shot in the stomach with an air rifle.

The pup underwent three hours of surgery by three different doctors but is still not out of the woods.

According to a City of North Port release a police report has been filed but so far no leads have been established. The pet’s owner, Pam Joint, woke up Sunday morning to find her two dogs had managed to escape from the lanai.

She went around the neighborhood looking for the canines when she found Sami Sue curled up in a ball in a driveway. When Join realized the dog had been shot she rushed her to an emergency veterinarian clinic in Port Charlotte.

Sami Sue is recovering in Sarasota and a GoFundMe page has been established to alleviate medical costs.

If you have any information about this case, please contact the North Port Police Department at 941-429-7300. If you wish to remain anonymous call Sarasota County Crime Stoppers at 941-366-8477.
