North Port issues alert for missing elderly man

Cortez, 67, was last seen near his home at approximately 5 pm Monday.
(BTLS Staff) NORTH PORT, Fla. – Authorities in North Port are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing elderly man.

Guadalupe ‘Lupe’ Cortez, 67, was last seen Monday just before 5 pm at his residence on Dongola St. in the city limits.

According to a City of North Port release Cortez has a medical condition, including impairment to his left side due to a stroke. He usually uses a walker to get around but he left it at home the report states.

Cortez stands 5’10”, weighs 150 pounds and has gray hair. He was last seen wearing a striped shirt, blue jean shorts and brown shoes. The missing man usually wears glasses.

Family members say Cortez frequents the Gazebos on the Sumter corridor and has been found along 1-75 and Sumter when he has left in the past. He has friends in North Sarasota – possibly in the Lockwood Ridge Rd. area.

Police say he has a Sarasota Area bus pass and that may be his mode of transportation. If you have seen Mr. Cortez, please contact the North Port Police Department at 941-426-3111.
