Investigators say Manuel swapped services for sex in some cases.

(NY Daily News) LAMONI, Iowa – A chiropractor in a small Iowa town has lost his medical license for performing exorcisms and having sex with several clients in exchange for his services.

Charles Manuel of Lamoni, population 2,300, “performed exorcisms as part of his chiropractic treatment of patients,” says a settlement agreement released this week by a state chiropractic board.

Manuel “engaged in sexual contact with several patients,” the document says, and “bartered sex for services.”

Manuel acknowledged the offenses and surrendered his license. He is banned from chiropractic practice for 10 years.
Residents said they were stunned at the news about a man who had been in practice for years.

“We didn’t notice any of that stuff when he was here,” former medical partner Bryan Nowlin told KCCI-TV. The two once shared an office but Nowlin now has a solo practice.

Neighbor Robert Jackson told the station he was dumbstruck.

“That’s ridiculous. I mean, an exorcism? It’s extremely scary. I’m appalled that it was going on exactly right across the street,” he told the station.
