The incident occurred around noon on Saturday.

(WTHR.COM) INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A Saturday shooting that ended with the suspect dead started with a home invasion by the homeowner’s own brother, according to investigators.

The initial call came out just before noon as a burglary in the 2900 block of East Riverside Drive. When officers got to the scene, they found broken windows and Demond Anderson dead inside the home.

Investigators now say Demond’s older brother, 34-year-old Derrick Anderson, walked in on him burglarizing Derrick’s home. Derrick called police for help, but before they arrived, he confronted Demond.

Derrick later told police he was afraid Demond had found his firearms inside the home while he was burglarizing it, so he shot and killed him.

Demond had prior felony convictions, according to police, for possession of a handgun and possession of stolen property.
