Homeless man arrested following stabbing death in North Port

Luciano, 22, is facing a second-degree murder charge.


(BTLS Staff) NORTH PORT, Fla. – A 22-year-old homeless man is in the Sarasota County Jail facing a second-degree murder charge.

Nicholas Robert Ryan Luciano was arrested early Thursday morning, shortly after the body of an unidentified male was discovered in a vacant lot near the intersection of Granada Blvd. And Trionfo Ave.

According to a North Port Police Department report officers were dispatched to the scene just after 4 am in response to a call about a man covered in blood.

Investigators with NPPD and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office gathered clues and spoke to witnesses over the next several hours. The report states Luciano used a knife to commit the crime.

The identity of the deceases is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This is not Luciano’s first brush with law enforcement in Sarasota County. In 2012 he was arrested on a misdemeanor intimidation charge.
