Ga. mom has 10-year-old son arrested over disrespectful behavior
(MyFox8.com) COLUMBUS, Ga. – A mother in Columbus, Ga., used what some are calling a “scare tactic” to set her son straight.
Chiquita Hill said her son, Sean, was being disrespectful to his teacher and refused to do his work.
After weeks of dealing with his behavior Hill decided to call police in hopes of “scaring him straight,” according to WTVM.
The police agreed and explained to Hill what the arrest simulation would be like.
Officers went into the home and talked to Sean about his bad behavior before cuffing him and putting him in the back of the squad car for five minutes.
Since posting photos of the experience to Facebook, Hill has received more than 3,500 likes and 1,000 shares.
Some people commented on the post referencing the situation in Baltimore.
Others showed support for the mother’s decision. According to WTVM, one person said, “I had black cops arrest me when I was 15 and I love them for it, I wouldn’t be who I am today.”
Officers at the Columbus Police Department told WTVM some parents contact juvenile services if they are concerned about their child’s behavior.
After the “arrest” Hill said she didn’t know what the officers said to her son, but he ran out of the car, gave her a hug and apologized.
