Frostproof High teacher arrested on marijuana possession charge

Griffin, 41, was booked into the Polk County Jail and released on a bond of $1,000.

(BTLS Staff) LAKE WALES, Fla. – A teacher at Frostproof High School has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest Wednesday on drug charges.

Thomas Brian Griffin is facing one count of possession of cannabis and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Polk County Jail and released after posting a $1,000 bond.

According to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office report deputies received information that Griffin, an Exceptional Student Education instructor at FHS, was using illegal drugs.

Deputies were dispatched to the suspect’s home on Lake Shore Dr. in Lake Wales. They discovered marijuana and a wooden pipe in two bedrooms at the residence. Griffin, 41, was arrested without incident.

He has been a full-time teacher with the district since 2005. Griffin has been employed at Frostproof High since July 2011.
