(WFTV.COM) DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 51-year-old man will be taken into custody after he told Daytona Beach police he killed his wife, authorities said.

The homicide investigation took place Saturday at the Royal Palm Court Condominiums. Authorities released the 911 call in which Christopher Swanger told dispatchers he had a fight with his wife and that he thought he killed her.

Swanger told police that Saturday morning he had a fight with his 42-year-old wife and choked her to death. When police arrived at the scene and saw Swanger, he told officers, “You got me.”

Swanger also told police he had taken pills. He was taken to Halifax Hospital for observation, where he told doctors more info, police said.

Upon release from the hospital, Swanger  was taken into custody and will be charged with murder, according to police.
Police said Swanger has an extensive violent history and background, including stalking and aggravated assault.

Swanger calls the victim his wife, but police said the two do not have the same surname. The couple had been living at the apartment temporarily for the past two weeks.

No guns or weapons were found inside of the home when police entered to find the body.
