(BTSL Staff) PALMETTO, Fla. – A fishing tournament to benefit the athletic programs at Palmetto High School in Manatee County will be held early Saturday morning at the Bradenton Yacht Club.

The event kicks off at midnight and will wrap up with the official judge’s decisions on the winners at 4 pm. Labeled as a ‘catch-and-release,’ competition, those taking part are required to take pictures of the fish they haul in.

Scoring is based on the top overall length of all Snook, Redfish and Trout caught.

Due to more than a dozen sponsors in the community, entry fee per team is only $50. Teams are comprised of four members and competitors are not required to use a boat as wade fishing is permitted.

Click here to access a registration form. They must be turned in by 6 pm Friday and there is a captain’s meeting at the BYC at 7 pm.

Prizes for the tournament are $1,000 cash for 1st place, $500 for 2nd place and $250 for 3rd place. Information and rules are listed at www.palmettohighsports.com

In addition to a full day of fishing fun, there will be food, drink, entertainment and a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the athletic programs at Palmetto High School.
