Community football, basketball coach arrested on drug charge
(BTLS Staff) BARTOW, Fla. – A community coach at a Polk County High School is facing drug-related charges following his arrest Friday in Bartow.
Jeremy Davis, 35, was booked into the Polk County Jail and released after posting a bond of $1,000. He is charged with one count of drug possession and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. His live-in girlfriend, 30-year-old Ashley Clay, is facing similar charges.
According to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office report undercover narcotics detectives responded to a residence in Bartow in response to an anonymous complaint about illegal drugs.
Davis, who was a part time football and basketball coach at Lake Region High School in Eagle Lake, cooperated with investigators and admitted he ‘smoked weed.’ The report states Davis has been relieved of his coaching duties and will not be working with students.
He has one prior arrest in Polk County. In 2008 Davis was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license. Clay also has one prior arrest in the area – in 2005 she was charged with drug possession.
