Clearwater doctor arrested on prescription fraud charges

(BTLS.COM Staff) CLEARWATER – A 50-year-old Bay area doctor is facing two counts of prescription fraud.

Lynne Carr Columbus, President of Gulf Coast Pain Management in Clearwater, was arrested by deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office on Monday. She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and released on a bond of $10,000

According to a PCSO report detectives say Columbus – who lives in Tampa – obtained medication at various pharmacies in the area by using fraudulent prescriptions. The investigation began last month after investigators received a tip she was abusing Oxycodone.

The report states Columbus was writing prescriptions using her patients names in order to obtain the drug.

PCSO detectives met with the suspect on Monday and took her into custody. Columbus is facing two counts of obtaining or attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
