Addington On Bubba the Love Sponge Show

A great day!

On Friday, July 11th while in Florida to do shows on stage at the "Southern Trophy Hunter's Big Buck Expo" in Lakeland, Florida my sidekick Eli and I headed to Tampa for two appearances with Bubba the Love Sponge and his crew on their radio shows.

For those of you unaware of Bubba, he is a well known figure in Florida and nationally for his radio show. He is one of the original shock jock's of radio, and has an audience that's estimated at 3.3 million people in the Tampa and Jacksonville, Florida area for his local show and his other national show has the #2 ratings on all of satellite radio second only to Howard Stern, who's station he is affiliated with. I heard from one person there that more than 7 million heard the second interview. Add the two shows and somewhere around 10 million people heard us talk about archery!

They had contacted me back about six weeks ago and I'd called in a few times but while in Florida we made an appearance on Bubba's two shows. Everyone there was first class and treated us very well. They have an impressive operation and really like to entertain their audiences.

After setting up the bows and net Eli and I hung out in the green room checking out the autographed guitars and relaxing. Then it was "show time." We did some in studio chatting and then headed outside for the "bow and arrow razzle dazzle". I hit some targets for them and showed off the new Mathews proto type bow. Bubba's crew videoed the whole thing for their website and the crew also shot photos. I did the three baby aspirin --three arrow shot and they seemed excited about it.

The second interview for the national show went very similar but for that show I did a special shot for Bubba... I hit three single baby aspirin with a single arrow in a row and also hit a balloon and cloths pin from about 40 feet away. Then I had Bubba trying out my new bow. By the way, that's the most baby aspirin I've ever hit in a row behind the back. They captured the three shots on video.

We had a blast and I look forward to getting back there sometime. I appreciate Spiceboy, 25 cent, Brent, Tom, and Bubba for treating us so well and giving me the opportunity to talk archery over the air. Lots of folks came to the Big Buck Expo that weekend that had heard the Bubba interview. He may be a shock jock but he was great to us and let us talk archery and promote a drug free life style. I very much appreciate that opportunity. Our website had over 2300 hits after the Bubba appearance. Thanks Bubba & crew!
