Tampa, Florida – The Bubba Radio Network® is pleased to announce that long time member of the Bubba The Love Sponge® Show, Matt “Spice” Loyd will join the airstaff at the New 102.5 The Bone to host a talk show weekdays from 7 PM to 10 PM, effective Monday April 23rd 2012.

Matt “Spice” Loyd joined the Bubba Radio Network® as an intern in 1998. Through hard work, dedication and with Bubba The Love Sponge® as a mentor, he was able to learn all the key aspects necessary to become a successful radio broadcaster. As his skills increased and his talents were exposed and developed he was rapidly promoted up the ladder from his internship to the full time producer/on air co-host position he holds today. Spice has been an integral part of the Bubba Radio Network® and a major contributor to the success of the nationally syndicated Bubba The Love Sponge® Show.

COX Classic Rocker WHPT (102.5 THE BONE)/TAMPA longtime morning man BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE, who was without a contract toward the close of 2011, (NET NEWS 12/19), tells ALL ACCESS that he’s back in the saddle and will return to the air TOMORROW (1/4) with a new four-year deal in hand.

BUBBA wouldn’t confirm that the deal was worth a rumored $2 million a year, but did tell ALL ACCESS, “After thinking about it for a long, long time, I decided to go back to the company that believed in me enough four years ago.

“This is the first time in my radio career that I was a true free agent. It’s nice going to market and getting a ton of great offers, and a big thank-you to those that were interested. But in the end I needed to come back to the company that stepped up and hired me when I was blackballed from terrestrial radio.”

Bubba the Love Sponge® and 2001 Odyssey Team up to Help Needy Children

Longtime local radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge along with Tampa’s oldest gentleman’s club, 2001 Odyssey are teaming up to collect toys for the needy children of the Bay Area. This annual event is called: “Toys for Ta-tas”. At six o’clock in the morning on Friday, December 16th at 2001 Odyssey, located at 2309 North Dale Mabry highway in Tampa, cars will start lining up to donate toys to children in need around the Tampa Bay area, it’s philanthropy, with a twist!!
The “twist” is more like a set of curves, curves provided by the entertainers of 2001 Odyssey!! Toy donations are taken by the girls, in drive through fashion, in a giant tent in the parking lot of the club! For the last twelve years, Bubba, Spiceboy and the whole BTLS crew have been enlisting the help of local gentleman’s establishments to gather and distribute thousands of toys to local, less fortunate children. This is the twelfth year that the radio star has put this event together, and the fourth time 2001 Odyssey has been there to help.

Now in its twelfth the year, the toy drive is more successful than ever, with the pile of toys getting bigger and better with each new installment! Several local charities will benefit from Bubba and 2001 Odyssey’s goodwill, and all the generous people of the Tampa Bay area who stop by to donate, will be treated to some early morning titillation from dozens of entertainers from Tampa’s best nude club!

Candidates file for St. Petersburg City Council races, including the producer for Bubba the Love Sponge® Show

ST. PETERSBURG — A flurry of last-minute filings Monday guaranteed that each of the three City Council members seeking re-election this year will face opposition, including one match-up that pits teacher against pupil.

Brent Hatley, the producer of Bubba the Love Sponge Clem’s morning radio show on WHPT-FM (the Bone 102.5), is challenging Bill Dudley, his former high school driving instructor.

For Dudley, who until late Monday didn’t know he faced opposition, Hatley’s sudden entry in the District 3 race posed a formidable obstacle to re-election.

“Bubba could be influential in raising money,” said Dudley, who has raised $6,000 so far. “We’ll have to gear up.”

Steve Kornell has raised more than twice that, $14,388, and also didn’t know if he faced opposition until late Monday. But minutes before the 5 p.m. deadline, Bill Protz, the president of the Catalina Marketing Charitable Foundation, filed the necessary paperwork to qualify for the District 5 race.

“It was a last-minute decision, but this is something I’ve wanted to do,” said Protz, 67, who sits on 14 charitable boards and is active in the Chamber of Commerce. His aim will be to improve the representation of south St. Petersburg.

Minutes after Protz filed, Kornell spoke to about 20 supporters on the steps of City Hall. Aside from the contributions, Kornell, 45, said he’s also picked up key endorsements from the city’s police union, U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor and state Rep. Darryl Rouson, whose wife, Angela, ran against him in 2009.

“We’re not going to take anything for granted.” Kornell said.

As expected, incumbent Wengay Newton will face off against Gershom Faulkner, a business and political consultant whom he beat in the 2007 race for District 7.

Herb Polson decided earlier this year he wouldn’t seek re-election for District 1. Three candidates qualified to run in that race: Robert Kersteen, a former City Council member; Charles Gerdes, a lawyer; and Joshua Shulman, a financial consultant. Neighborhood activist Monica Abbott had opened a campaign account, but didn’t file the necessary paperwork to qualify.

City Council members serve four years and are paid $38,914 a year.

Hatley’s candidacy sets up an unexpected and intriguing showdown for the Nov. 8 general election.

Dudley’s base is a daunting one. By his own count, Dudley, 67, estimates that he taught 15,000 students in nearly 40 years of teaching high school courses, serving as a football and wrestling coach, and being a driving instructor.

Hatley, 40, describes himself as a civil libertarian to the “Nth degree” who wants to rid the city of ordinances that infringe on personal rights and liberties, such as the red light cameras Dudley enthusiastically supports. Like Dudley, Hatley grew up in St. Petersburg and attended the same high school, Northeast. His mom was a teacher as well.

“Coach Dudley and I know the same people,” Hatley said.

Brad Keselowski Delivers Media Pace Car Rides; Assists With Honorary Pace Car Driver Practice

www.paddocktalk.com – Brad Keselowski showed off the new racing surface of Daytona International Speedway to members of the media on Wednesday afternoon and assisted renowned nationally syndicated radio personality Bubba The Love Sponge® in Honorary Pace Car driver practice for the upcoming 53rd annual Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday, July 2.

As Honorary Pace Car driver, Bubba will be behind the wheel of the Dodge Charger pace car as he leads the 43-car field to the green flag for the 160-lap, 400-mile Independence Day holiday classic under the lights at Daytona.

“I’ve always been a race enthusiast, but I never would have thought I would have the opportunity that Daytona and (DIS President) Joie Chitwood has given me,” Bubba said. “I’m still pinching myself.”

“We can’t wait to see him back here for the 400, especially if I qualify well and can spin him out,” Keselowski quipped. “I think there’s a long line of drivers that are hoping to qualify well just to spin out Bubba the Love Sponge on the first lap.”

Keselowski drove Bubba around the legendary 2.5-mile tri-oval in the Dodge Charger before switching seats and letting Bubba tackle the daunting 31-degree high banks. For Bubba, he felt more comfortable behind the wheel of the Dodge Charger.

“It’s a lot scarier to be a passenger than it is to be a driver … it’s a lot scarier to not be in control,” Bubba said.

Keselowski and his Penske Racing team are riding a wave of momentum heading into the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola. He recently won the pole at Charlotte and captured his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway.

“It’s great to be here in Daytona,” Keselowski said. “This is obviously the track for NASCAR racing. You look at the Daytona 500 – what we had there was phenomenal. A great turnout in the crowd, great weather, and most importantly, a great race. I think coming into the Coke Zero 400 we’re all looking for the same thing. It’s going to be a little different, obviously a lot hotter so the big question on all of our minds will be can we still do the two-car draft. A lot of variables out there. A lot of different things to look forward to coming back here for the race. We’re all ready to get going and get back here.”

As anyone who listens to radio on a regular basis probably knows, Bubba the Love Sponge® is one of the most popular radio personalities to ever talk into a mike. Every morning, listeners to BTLS, 102.5, The Bone, here in the Tampa, Florida tune in by the droves to listen to Bubba and the guys discuss the news of the day.

Today, though, we sit down with Bubba’s crew, the guys behind the man (and, as they would probably tell you themselves, there’s plenty of room back there) for a Q&A, using the questions one everyday listener, like yourself, would like to ask.

So, on behalf of Manson, Ned, Spice and Brent … enjoy!!

Question #1) DOES IT EVER BOTHER YOU TO HAVE YOUR PERSONAL LIVES BECOME PART OF THE SHOW?

Manson:

1. Sometimes, but everyone on the show, realizes that is part of the “deal”. Plus, that’s what makes the show so good.

Ned:

1. No, my personal life is unbelievably compelling.

Spice:

1. It used to bother me when I was younger, but over time I have become numb to it. It has ruined a lot of relationships though.

Brent:

1.Yes. I don’t like attention at all. I’m an observer. However, I hate being observed. Bubba loves making observations. The day the show stops making me uncomfortable, I’ll know it’s not good. Not a day goes by that I don’t cringe inside. That’s when I know that Bubba is hitting the right marks.

Question #2) WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING PART OF WORKING WITH BUBBA?

Manson:

2. Never knowing what is going to happen at any given time during the show.

Ned:

2. Watching Bubba slip further, and further into insanity every day.

Spice:

2. Everyday is an adventure, but I would say the most interesting part is seeing how he interprets the news of the day. Most media outlets take the traditional approach, but Bubba has the ability to see through the facade and analyze the true facts that 99% of media won’t report. Plus the naked chicks are pretty cool.

Brent:

2.Each day there’s a new challenge. Which, is what I love, the mental problem solving. Bubba presents a whole host of issues that need to be worked through. It’s never a boring day at work

Question #3) DO YOU EVER GET TIRED OF CHICKEN DIP AND NASCAR STORIES?

Manson:

3. Yes, yes, yes, and yes again.

Ned:

3. What was the question? I was sleeping.

Spice:

3. No, how could I possibly become sick of hearing about shredded chicken with sauce and tales of grown men turning left for 4 hours…(that’s my sarcasm speaking)

Brent:

Yes.

Question #4) IF YOU WERE TRAPPED ON A DESERT ISLAND WITH ONE PERSON FROM YOUR SHOW, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

Manson:

4. No one. They cannot be trusted.

Ned:

4. Bubba. Once I killed him in his sleep, I would have meat for weeks. Actually, I wouldn’t kill him. I would just sever his arms and legs one at a time, so as to keep the meat fresh.

Spice:

4. Probably Manson because he makes me laugh hysterically, however if the island had no food then I would choose Bubba because he’s got a lot of meat on those bones.

Brent:

4. I hate these questions. It would probably be Spice, because together we could figure out how to get off of said island, and Spice won’t need as much food.

Question #5) IF YOU COULD CREATE YOUR OWN “CELEBRITY DEATHMATCH” WHO WOULD YOU PICK TO FIGHT AND WHO WOULD YOU WANT TO DIE?

Spice:

5. Me VS. John Lynch…ask my ex girlfriend and his current Wife why.
Brent:

5. I would like to see Anderson Silva and Michael Vick. Obviously Vick would be demolished, like he did to those defenseless dogs.
