Bubba on Bullying

October 12th, 2011 by Staff

www.wtsp.com – It’s an issue that every child faces at some point: bullying. So what’s the best way to deal with it?

Nationally syndicated 102.5 The Bone radio show host Bubba the Love Sponge thinks it’s an issue for parents to deal with.

“Bullying has become such a buzz word in our society that, last week, even President Obama met with Lady Gaga about it,” he says. “Now, the president has to take time out to address what is just a school yard problem.”

My 11 year old son is autistic, which makes his social skills awkward and different towards other kids. Because he is different he is constantly bullied. I have gone to teachers, parents, confronting the kids, etc. none of those have helped my son. I let my kid know that it is absolutely ok for him to stand up for himself verbally and if needed physically. I am happy to say that today my kid stood up for himself and let one of his bullies know that he is not going to take it anymore. He came home a very happy kid knowing that he has it in him to take a stand and not put up with it, what a difference! I also agree that the president and other officials have better things to do than deal with a issues such as bullying that us parents, ourselves can do something about. It is a Parenting issue.
