Bubba is adding an additional $4,000 reward for the capture of this criminal

MIAMI (WSVN) — Police continue their quest to catch a rapist by releasing new video showing the suspect and his victim moments before the crime occurred.

The crime occurred at the victim’s condo building, near 12th Street and Southwest First Avenue at around 3:15 a.m., March 28.

On Tuesday, Crime Stoppers of Miami-Dade County reenacted the events that led up to the sexual assault. The victim and her friend went out for drinks at the Blue Martini lounge in the Brickell area. The two then had a drink at the restaurant Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita before they parted ways.

When the victim passed by an ATM machine on her way home, the alleged suspect, a man in a white shirt and blue jeans, followed the victim to her condo.

Surveillance video showed the man following the victim into the building and boarding the elevator with the woman. According to authorities, the victim and the suspect did not know each other because the two barely talked or looked at one another during the elevator ride. Then the woman dropped her keys, and both she and the suspect reached to grab them.

Shortly after, the victim got off the elevator, and the suspect followed her. According to police, the suspect pushed the woman into her apartment and raped her. Fifteen minutes later, surveillance video captured the suspect returning to the elevator and exiting the building.

Police handed out flyers with the suspect’s sketch to residents in the area, in the hope that someone will recognize him. “I think with the videotape of the subject being so clear and now by coming back out on the scene tonight, we hope that we’ll jog someone’s memory,” Richard Masten, Executive Director of Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers said, “someone that saw them together, someone that has information on the case.”

Miami Police Detective Gary Jackson said, “We’re hoping that somebody will recognize this person.”

In spite of the crime, people who frequent the Brickell area said they are not concerned about the person responsible for the sexual assault since it seems to be an isolated incident.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of the rapist, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.

security officers or guards as many like to call us are not all Barney Fifes we can and do provide saftey in a situation like this . If they had an officer / guard or even a door man checking everyone that enters the building this would not have happend . I’ve worked many sites that had a computer with the names of occupants including a list of approved visitors , if someone not on the list wanted to visit we had to call and get approval first and we always took down that persons DL# or state ID#. I know not all places can afford this service but they always find a way AFTER thing like this happen. I hope they find this guy before he does it again

I am the owner of a armed security agency comprised entirely of US military veterans and former law enforcement officers. Yes security would have been able to prevent this. Also, under state statutes, if security were to have caught the subject, they could have detained him for law enforcement.

However, many condos will not go with security officers. Many times I get the excuse they already have security, they have cameras.

I have yet to see where a camera in place has prevented or stoped a crime. Cameras are a tool that can provide information, but they are not a good substitute for a actual security officer.

Stores are also good for this. Several months ago a walgreens had a armed robbery, I spoke to them about security, not interested, they had cameras. 3 days later, they were robbed again. Again, the main office said they had security, they had cameras. I also went to several circle-K stores. Again the main office said no, they have security cameras. A few weeks ago, both clerks at that same store were murdered, all caught on camera.

The point is, these people and companies do not care about the employees or the tenets in their buildings. They are only concerned about the profit margin and only appear to be concerned. It is cheaper to pay a higher insurance rate than it is to pay a good security agency.
