Sirius Situation

February 25th, 2009 by admin

I just want to take a moment to explain what has transpired with the Sirius “situation”. Without getting too long winded, all of us on the show feel an explanation is overdue. I can’t blame the loyal Bubba listeners for being taken back at this, but this is the option Sirius chose, not us. It was either the “regular radio” show, or no show at all. We love the freedom of uncensored radio just as much as anyone and we are so pleased to be a part of the Sirius family, but we all had to compromise to get us back on the air. I have been overwhelmed at the amount of email I have received and all the false rumors floating around regarding this. Just to clear up a few…

1. For those of you saying we are getting more money is false

2. For those of you saying we don’t want to do two shows a day is false.

3. For those of you blaming the way things went down on us is completely wrong without you knowing our side of things.

Over the years we have wanted nothing more than to provide our listeners with a quality daily program that our loyal listeners would embrace.

Fact of the matter is Sirius is in a situation where the stock price isn’t exactly setting the World on fire, an economy where radio is hurting, and unfortunately they did not have the resources to sign us to an exclusive show. As many of you know, the contract negotiations came down to the last minute and we were able to put something together. This is the solution that Sirius chose. Coming from our side of things, we feel that our show, whether censored or not is a strong enough program to endure being able to say “fuck” or not. Is the regular radio show different….absolutely! We make no bones about it, but again, the Bubba Army was so great that they called and emailed and showed the true power of standing up and saying “we want Bubba”. For that we are eternally grateful. The fact that they have chosen to become an affiliate can be looked at two ways that anyone with a brain can understand.
1. They didn’t have the money to pay us to do an exclusive show, but didn’t want to lose us or 2. They feel our product is good enough to air on their medium. I will admit it is frustrating to be called a a turncoat and a sell out, but that was not our intention through any of this. Again, the solution was simple, some Bubba or no Bubba at all. Sirius chose to have some Bubba. We will provide an exclusive uncensored show on Fridays from 10-2 p.m. Eastern and are working on providing other exclusive uncensored content as well. It is a blessing to be a part of the Howard / Sirius Family and one that we truly don’t take for granted. I know alot of you are frustrated, as are we. We knew that this would be a difficult thing to explain and wish that we were able to do it sooner and more efficiently. I hope you are able to understand the position both us and Sirius are in at this point in time and hopefully you continue to support the program.

Censored Bubba is better then no Bubba! I hope you get more affiliates so show content will extend more than just Fla area, but the show is still strong. Keep up the great work! FTE!

I just dont like the fact that we are getting prerecorded radio. Its one thing if we were getting a live censored show but we arent. Just like Janie cakes said she doesnt listen anymore as much either. Therefore I am looking for programming that is live when I listen to it. I understand that you arent getting paid any more or any less the fact of the matter is I believe that with all the other stuff that you market you were doing pretty good. Hey Bubba have you built that new gym yet. See what I mean look at the place he lives and the toys he has collected. I would love to have half of the income he has. Oh well I will tune in from time to time but Ill tell you this I dont listen everyday like I used too. Good luck and I hope to hear you live again sometime in the future.

I love this show, and I’ll listen to it either way. And Friday KICKS ASS! BUBBA ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s lame as hell that the Friday replay it buried at 1AM to 5AM the following day.I only get to hear an hour of it before I have to go to work.
Yet the Intern Show, Jackie’s Joke Cunt, and other lame crap gets prime billing on Ch. 101.
There’s no logic to it being the BTLS fans are legion.
I catch the live feed on-line weekday mornings on KROK in Tampa.
As was already stated, any Bubba is better than no Bubba.
It’s , at least, refreshing to know that we’ll still have the BTLS after the Stern show is finally gone for good.

Hey cant blame you guys, this is just an example of stupid decisions made by non on air talent.how about scraping a bunch of the crap content that no one listens to and invest in a marqi show. But im just a high school dropout truck driver so what do i know.I just hope sirius knows that it is the dumb truckdriver that supports the company not house wives or fags or any of the very slim margins of people that subscibe for martha stewart.Lets hope somebody steps up at that company and becomes a leader with some common sense or the end of sirius is near, and that would be a shame.

I used to be a huge fan, but after the crappy return in January, I dropped out for good. No more Bubba is fine with me. I’m now using Bubba shirts to mop my floors, peeled the Bubba sticker off my truck and now take my Ipod everywhere I go and listen to good content. Sirius will never get another dime out of me, just isn’t worth it to me anymore.

    thats three times a week

  8. chuck

    5 minutes at a time

BTLS so sensitive to posters that you have to delete their posts when you don’t like what they say? You didn’t like what I said? Just stated I didn’t like the way you left your true fans hanging in January, so I canceled two subscriptions and won’t give Sirius anymore money. Makes me sad that I fought a war to give the American public the continued freedom they deserve, just like Brent did, in the same war, and then you crap on my rights and remove my freedom of speech. Huh. Your real American…thanks a lot. Take the money I gave you and go live a great life.

It’s no wonder that Sirius nearly went bankrupt and their stock is in the toilet…what with the lames running the place spending all of that money on Oprah. Oprah is not good radio. I signed on to Sirius to listen to Howard Stern and I found Bubba. I now listen to Bubba far more than I listen to Howard. Hopefully, when Howard retires…Bubba will take his place. As far as the idiot poster who whines about Bubba’s house and toys, Bubba earned every cent and deserves everything he has. If you are jealous get off your ass and work harder or smarter to get where Bubba is.

  11. chuck

wonder how long that one will last before they delete it

  12. chuck

shockingly i listened to the show and it sucked

First off let’s get something straight…

Howard is number one for a reason. And we all know why. He led the charge, comes up with THE most innovative programming (as proof look at all the TV and radio shows that constantly rip him off), and his format is imitated by anyone who wants any kind of ratings. Don’t even think of busting on Howard…when he’s gone, the world will be a MUCH duller place. And if Jackie is the only one left on the radio….gawd help us all.

Bubba has a great format, too. Funny, parodic, insightful, down to earth and sometimes gut bustingly funny. I hope Sirius DOES place Bubba in first position when Howard finally hangs it up, cause gawd knows there isn’t anyone else around who can fill those shoes or come close to holding my attention.

Howard – may you reign supreme on every level, my friend.

Bubba – stay strong and hang in there! Your time is coming, my hillbilly friend.

Just keep doing what you have to.I never heard of you till I got Sirius for Stern. You guys rock no matter what format.I’m unemployed and will renew my 3 subscription with my UI checks, srcew the bills ,Howard and Bubba keep me sane!!

When Howard goes ,will Be a said DAY , Sirius whake up BUBBA takes over , Hes The only I can Support Besides Howard , You so called Bubba fan ,that dont listen . BYE

The fact that you have been cut short of what you and you team is capable of giving us the listener is complete bullshit, I completely understand you for doing what you have to secure your future, and I hope I still have the opportunity to her you and the boys in the future either way shit shakes down. I am a faithful Canadian listener and will find a way to hear you guys even if its through pod casts or iTunes either way I will follow!!!! Fuck those who oppose what you bring forth!!!

i think the new show is great i do miss the old show but i understand the change. i am a longhaul trucker i am only home on the weekends and know how hard it is to not see your family. my son lives with his mom and i only get to see him every 4 months or so. so always do what is best for your family they r the important ones in life not us.

  18. matt

I think that it’s great that he’s able to keep the show on sirius, whether it is a sensered repeet or not. I was unable to listen to the old unsensored shows, as i am one of Bubbas many international fans that listens to the terestrial stations online feeds to get ny bubba fix, I did hear a couple of his unsensored shows when the rental car that i had when i was on holiday in Florida had sirius back in 2006, and it’s a shame that i didn’t get to hear many more of those, but i’m happy with what i got, and well, it’s a shame that he doesn’t have more afiliates on regular radio, even outside of the country. You guys should be glad you got what you got. You paid for Howard Stern. Bubba is just an extra, so deal and stop wining. For God sake. At least you get the unsensored content you do get. In other countries such as the UK where i live, we are not able to recieve unsensored radio with out going on the internet, and 9 times out of 10, the stuff online is bull and not worth anyones time. So just be glad to still be able to hear him. It’s called Howard 101, not Bubba 101 for a reason.
