Bubba VS Octo-Mom
I freely admit to being a pencil-necked geek whose brain is addled by too much of the Diane Rehm show. Still, I’m rarely shocked. Yet as I was flipping through radio stations this morning, I was taken aback by the on-air pummeling that 93.1’s Bubba the Love Sponge was giving to the Octo-Mom.
Bubba was talking about how people like the Octo-Mom just just drain resources from taxpayers; only “good people” like himself should be allowed to have kids, he said. In the span of just a few minutes, Bubba called the Octo-Mom a “whore” at least five times, and a “bitch” at least eight times. “Kill the mom! Kill the doctor!” he said.

Everything that you said was on the mark and absolutely appropriate! What is obscene is a non-working mother with 14 children who is getting WAY TOO MUCH media attention. If you did anything wrong, it was giving her even more attention. But I understand that you were pissed off like most sane people and you certainly have the right to vent.

I strongly agree with Bubba. Octo-Mom is what is wrong with America. The kids should be put up for adoption and Octo-mom and the doctor who fertalized her to to get 14 children should be put in jail. She is absolutly disgusting and makes me and my wife sick! We have 2 boys and I know we are good parents, she is far from that, she uses the children for publicity, not caring! Right here in Brevard County we have a bunch of women with the same mentality. They just keep having babies and the taxpayers can take care of all of them. I have a situation right now where I’m raising 3 grandkids and the mother has had 2 more kids and welfare is chugging right along. I don’t understand this kind of mentality at all if you can’t afford one kid why are you having more. Do they not get that concept? Or have they not figured out where babies come from? Stupid! I do listen to Bubba. I also listen to Howard AND NPR, read incessantly, and own a business with 15 employees. I don’t consider myself a “stupid hillbilly” since I graduated valedictorian of my high school class and scored higher than 99.9% of the people who took the SAT. Bubba’s show often speaks to me, not as a ‘clone’ who thinks everything he says is correct, but as someone who appreciates a rational discourse and the occasional emotional rant. Sometimes, the appropriate response IS to be angry. As an American, the Octo-mom is able to make babies as much as she wants so long as she is willing to accept the consequences. If immature decisions to have multiple babies would have resulted in neglect for the babies without government intervention, we ought to treat her as a person planning a crime. If the childhood neglect is averted through government or philanthropic intervention, her INTENT to bring about child neglect is not negated. She still ought to be charged, imprisoned, and lose custody of these children based on attempted child abuse and neglect charges.

I have never called into a radio station before…I was close for the first time this morning. But this topic really has me upset. I am a single mother of 2 and have been divorced for almost 10 years. I work and have always provided for my two kids. In fact after my second was born, I had my tubes tied because I did not want any more kids, they are so expensive. The sad part about all of this, it is happening all over this area. Women are having babies everyday that should not be. Look at our welfare system…where does the madness end?

In addition to admitting to being a pencil-necked geek, I suggest you also attempt to identify just why you felt compelled to write this laughable article to begin with (perhaps a visit with the good Dr. Phil is in order) What you fail to realize is the anger and utter disgust conveyed by this radio show (as well as over 90% of Americans last time I checked) is necessary to prevent unbalanced losers from repeating this stunt. If this attitude of entitlement becomes the norm, we’re all done for. We will fail as a whole. People like this octomom literally “sink the ship”. I believe this backlash will help to dissuade idiots from even thinking twice about this in the future, which will in turn benefit us all. Judging by your comment regarding the FCC, you clearly need to do a little more research as “pushing it” just simply isn’t the case. Finally, just because Bubba’s opinion differs from yours does not mean it is wrong, maybe you should attempt to mature just a little and understand that. Perhaps blogging is not the most suitable outlet for you?

Do you have a problem with the language Bubba used or his opinion on the fact that “Octo Mom” wanna be Angelina Jolie, made a selfish decision in implanting so many embryos while already having 6 children, no job, no body to help her raise said children, no home of her own to live in?
I am a single, working Mother of 2, with an ex-husband that, although does see the children, provides no financial support. Would I love to have more children? ABSOLUTELY! But, guess what? I am smart enough and non-selfish enough to know that, although I can financially afford it, I don’t have the time that is needed to correctly raise a child. It would not be fair to him/her. How can a single Mother of 14 children have the amount of time and energy required to correctly raise all of them? Perhaps you have/ had a silver spoon growing out of your mouth and had nannies growing up, but that is not the real world! And, being a free lance writer, means you are basically unemployed, again, being distant from real world situations. I pray the children will be raised properly and remain healthy, as they are victims here that did not ask to be born to a selfish, fertile, nut bag.

I agree with Bubba…if people can’t afford the kids they have they certainly shouldn’t expect us taxpayers to pay for them. I think the government should help those out who can’t pay for or fall on hard times with their first child -after that they are on their own; because clearly if you can’t afford one - you certainly can’t afford more. Perhaps if welfare laws were changed to be a bit stricter we wouldn’t have people reproducing like bunnies!

I don’t wish death upon many people but I do against this “Octamom”. Sounds horrible but if she’s dead then those kids get adopted by PARENTS who will take care of them on an individual basis.
Real parents are upset that class sizes go up. Real parents claim that if there’s more children in the classroom then the teacher cannot teach individual child like they should be taught. They protest when teachers are fired and states get involved. Yet 14 children are stuck in this home with no dad. Where is the justice in Ca? How is a 4 bedroom house sufficiant for 14 children? If she truely wanted to love and care for these children she would have moved from a WAY overpriced area and took that $500k and moved to Barstow, Ca where she could have build a 10 bedroom house for that price. But then again she wouldn’t have had this type of exposure. That means less money for her!
Also, why isn’t this Angels in waiting foundation being scrutinized for this travesty? They should be getting heat too. Instead of taking care of this abortion of a family they should be taking care of 14 families that need it.

Firstly, I listen to both Bubba and NPR regularly-both are good–there is nothing wrong with getting all sides of a story (and NPR has many commentators who don’t think Bubba’s POV is wrong). To censor the one you don’t agree with is born out of some need to legislate morality just because you may not like the choice of words. Next this woman will start to ban library books in which she doesn’t like the language. Her understanding of free speech is simply absurd.
In regard to fertility implants, the implantation itself is an expensive process per treatment. How did octomom pay for that if she was so economically challenged? (not to mention the plastic surgery on the collagen implants for the lips?
I have clients who can indeed afford this process who work in the medical profession, and they have stated that the doctor was negligent by implanting so many embryos in one pass. My client said that 100% healthy women generally have a top limit of 6 embryos implanted at one time (at this woman’s age, mid 30’s they won’t implant more than five).
And how many single moms need a PR agent anyway? (this was an early tip octomom did not have the purest of motivation…
Bubba did effectively represent a large section of the country’s feelings on this topic.

My wife and I have two kids and love them to death. We have made a responsible decision to stop at two because to raise a child in this day and age it cost MONEY. To be that irresponsible sickens me. It would be a different story if she was worth MILLIONS and could afford to pay for all that goes along with raising children. My personal feelings are that she did this to get a TV deal like the show on TLC Jon & Kate Plus 8.(my wife watches it) I agree with Bubba(except for killing them both) that the doctor should pay child support like they were his own kids. She is exactly what is wrong in todays society. Everyone wants something for free with no responsibility. Keep up the good work Bubba and for that GEEK that was upset GROW SOME BALLS and SHUT UP.

We are a family struggling everyday to raise 3 with paying child care, keeping a roof over our head, and devoting whatever time we have left over to the childrent. 14 kids is a way to gain attention, to get things paid and bought for you. I go to work hard each day and would love to have just a week of the fruits this bitch has the luxury of having every day. My wife and me are planning on having a baby, but we just dont feel right at this moment with all this crisis and unsure if we will still have our jobs in months…. I have to face my wife suffering cause of that, and listen to this F*** news that charity are giving money to this crazy woman, and she is buying 500k home when everyone is losing their much cheaper houses…it is just unbelievable….

I’ve had FOUR miscarriages in the last fifteen months. My husband and I are nearly at our wits end. I have had FIFTEEN visits to the lab for blood tests, I have had three internal tests and will now be prescribed FOUR different medications in order to attempt a future successful pregnancy. We work hard. We make a good living and we deserve a family. My stomach turns every time I see the celebrity of this self indulgent woman grow. I dare this spokeswomen to follow up with these eight children eighteen years from now. I have no doubt that the majority will not then be productive members of society. Watching the future of our values wither away because of this sensationalism makes me wonder what tomorrow’s headlines will have to dish out.

Hi Bubba, I just want to say that you are right about everything you say about this woman. She knew what she was doing and is getting exactly what she wanted out of this. It makes me sick. Now her only job will be is to sleep and spend taxpayers money shopping and getting plastic surgery because she won’t have anything else to do because everyone else will be doing it for her. This is a very unfair situation for many women out there, including myself.
I would also like to say that there should be criminal charges against her. How is it that she was on Disability ( which means she is sick or injured and unable to work) and was able to use her Disability money ( a lot of it ) and pay a doctor to get her pregnant with 8 babies.
Sounds like some fraud charges to me. I know if I was injured and on Disability and they were sitting across the street from my house taking pictures of me doing physical work around my house I would be arrested and told to pay all the money back. I also believe that whoever the idiot doctor is should lose his lic. and have to pay all the medical bills for these babies whole time in the hospital.
It’s amazing that all the wrong this woman did and will probably continue to will be continuously rewarded for it.

I agree with Bubbas’ comments 100%. My wife and I went through invetrofertilization 12 years ago because we couldn’t get pregnant naturally. After the procedure we were told that there were 5 babies in my wifes’ tummy. As most normal people would do is try to figure out how we are going to afford this. After reality set in we were given the option to make the decision to reduce the number to 2 babies. It was a very difficult decision, but the right decision as we could have never afforded 5 kids. This is the same thing this bitch should have done.

I think its pretty sad that us as tax payers have to pay for anyone who is a breeder. I am 28 years old taking care of my mother who is disaibled and can’t get disability. Its sick that all I need to do is go have a few litters of kids to get any kind of help from the state. I have no kids, don’t care to have any either. I’m not sure what is worse the stupid welfare moms who have 8 kids in and out of jail for prostitution to just repeat this process of living off of us or this stupid bitch not even decent enough to have sex the normal way to have kids and living off of us. I 100% agree with you Bubba! It makes me sick what this stupid lady has done. I am a VERY hard working mother of one child. I left my son’s father when he was 6 months old and have worked my ass off for him to provide for him and give him a good life. Did I ever once ask for a hand out? HELL NO! What makes her think she can raise all those kids, yet alone all those boys by herself? My son is only 2 and it’s tough. What makes her think she can give those children a good life? I think you are accurate in believing that people should be monitored if they are choosing to have invetro fertilization. You should know however that with invetro fertilization doctors implant multiple eggs as many times the eggs do not “stick” and become viable pregnancies. However I feel that if you are not willing to do the RESPONSIBLE thing and terminate some of the eggs that you should make that choice before they implant you with a bakers dozen of potential babies. I am a social worker and it saddens me to see that this is now becoming such a common thing in society. WHEN DID PEOPLE START HAVING LITTERS LIKE DOGS! I think if transsexuals need to undergo a rigorous qualification process to earn their right to change their sex then so should people who want to have multiples. It is neglectful in that the babies are not born full term and often live their first months poked and prodded in a hospital incubator only to go to a home and fight for their right to be noticed amongst the other children. Also having multiples is a full time job that SHOULD be common sense. What Doctor in their right mind would impregnate a person who can not afford this responsibility as this person is clearly selfish or not of sound mind. And finally I would just like to say that I would better understand the whole invetro fertilization “craze” if there were not over 100,000 children looking to be adopted in the United states alone. Some people say that they are afraid that the child they adopt will have problems in life, but so do multiples who are born premature and undeveloped.

Pre 1960s it wasnt uncommon to have large familys with 10 or more kids, my dad grew up in a 13 kid family and they got no handouts. my grandparents owned 28 semi trucks in Prince George B.C and they all worked hard keeping the business, later on they bought land and built a motel wich employed them all.
